The Official TFN Fanfilms Choreography Competition September - December 2002 Rules: http://boards.theforce.net/fan_films/b10015/8860184/p1 Voting: http://boards.theforce.net/fan_films/b10015/9786956/p1 CONTEST RULES: * Clips must be no more than 2 minutes in length. All clips exceeding this limit will be disqualified. All clips exceeding 3 minutes will be promptly disqualified. 4 minutes is right out! * Clips must have a minimum of 30 seconds. All clips exceeding this minimum will be laughed at and promptly disqualified (unless you're Abe, in which case we understand). * All clips must be submitted in Sorenson.mov format. We will not be able to accept anything other than that. * Try to keep all file sizes under 40 megs. If you have to take the sound out, then do that. You won't be judged on sound quality, so don't worry. * You can submit your clip with or without visual effects. I would suggest you rotoscope your clip, as it is easier to see what is going on in the fight. However, this is not necessary. If you cannot do it yourself, as in you have no means whatsoever (Sorry WhisperingDeath, but your 10-man battle will have to wait) but feel you can't submit a clip without rotoscoping, we have a couple volunteers who will rotoscope the clip for you, provided you follow certain conditions. Those conditions are stated below. * Those wishing to have their clip rotoscoped must submit their clip along the Early Submission guidelines. Absolutely no requests will be considered once the deadline has passed. * Only lightsabre props may be used. Any clips relying on archaic ( wink ) metal weapons will not be accepted. You can use any lightsabre-based weapon you want (Yes, PadawanNick, you can use your 'chucks): double-blade, single blade, two singles, anything. It'd be interesting to see some other things like a glaive or long-handled sword. So be creative, but not too creative, if you catch my drift. Judging Criteria: Judging will be done through a poll. There may be multiple polls, depending on the number of clips submited. Remember, YOU, the board members, will be the judges. So keep these three things in mind when looking over the clips. Clips will be judged in three areas: * Originality * Intensity * Presentation Some FAQ's: # Is live steel (real swords) ok? This deals with choreography relating to Star Wars fanfilms. While some EU characters use metal weapons, for the most part, lightsabres are used. So, no. # How strict are you on the "lightsaber style" classification? We are trained in quarterstaff (among other things) and although it's used similar to a double bladed lightsaber, there are some staff moves that I don't think could be done with any saber we've seen yet. I'm assuming you're referring to the between-the-hand staff block that would take a normal double-end lightsabre out of commision (for my theories as to why it wouldn't end up being two swords, PM me). Part of choreography is keeping within the boundaries of the world the fight takes place in. Just keep in mind that you're choreographing a lightsabre fight for a SW fanfilm. # Will you accept a clip of a longer fight? (I've done a lightsaber duel, but it's 5 min long) Sorry, but must be strict about this. Anything over 2 minutes (especially if not properly compressed) would be too big a file. We don't want to overwhelm the bandwith of our host. # Can one person submit more than one clip? You can, but try to do it under different names. Like if you have three clips, and three or four actors, name it after each one of them. This way we don't have something like BurnettClip1.mov, BurnettClip2.mov, so on and so forth. It just gets confusing. **************************** Unfortunately Entries 3 (Sage) and 5 (CCSpree) have been lost in the sands of time
